What We Do
Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy's National Honors Society is dedicated to providing community service in a variety of ways. Not only do we provide tutoring services for our own students, but we reach our hands out to students of other countries. Through Our annual One New Education fundraiser we raise money for young girls to go to school. Our fundraising activities generally include student dance, music, and poetry performances for the community to enjoy. Each year we also fund raise and donate money to local charities and food banks. Also, we have adopted an street to clean up 3 times a year. In addition to our annual events, we provide service to any local organizations in need of youth services. In the past we have volunteered for organizations such as Run Flagstaff's halloween event, NAU's winter performances, and Habbitat for Humanity.
Are you Applying to NHS?
Applying may seem stressful, so if you are feeling overwhelmed feel free to contact an NHS advisor or NHS officer for help! Contact information for the NHS advisors is on your application letter which you received in the mail. You can also find out who our officers are by going to the top of the page and clicking on the 'officers' button. Just remember to be open, honest, and most importantly be you.
You also may be considering whether or not you want to apply to NHS in the first place. Here's a little more about our organization to help you make your decision. We are looking for applicants who are dedicated and are willing to spend half an hour to an hour on average dedicated to NHS every other week, and sometimes every week. We want students who are eager to work in the community and work with their peers on various yearly and monthly projects; not students who just want something else to add to their resume.
If you have already looked through the components you will be needing for the application, I'm sure you have noticed by now that an important part of your application is your personal resume. So here is an example resume to help you get started. Good luck on your application process.
